Integrated Sessions

ECCMID offers the opportunity to organise Integrated Symposia and Integrated Meet-The-Expert sessions during the regular congress schedule. The organiser invites renowned speakers from around the world who can cover a wide range of topics in the fields of clinical microbiology, infectious diseases, infection control and basic microbiology. The programme is subject to the approval of the ECCMID Programme Committee. Speakers and a chair are selected by the organiser; in addition, ESCMID appoints for each session a dedicated chair in order to ensure a balanced and scientifically sound discussion. Moreover, the ESCMID chair monitors the respect of Rules for ECCMID integrated sessions

Integrated Symposia can provide an overview of recent developments and research results, review the literature or present pro/con debates. Integrated Symposia last 120 minutes and generally feature four talks and a panel discussion. Their nature, including the selection of topics, must be educational and not promotional.

Integrated Meet the-Expert sessions are recommended to cover practical relevance and include discussion with experts, direct interaction, sharing of study cases (“how best to ...” sessions). They last 60 minutes and feature two experts that provide practical insight, exchange personal views and stimulate discussion with the audience.
