Awards & Grants

ESCMID offers abstract submitters for ECCMID 2020 the following grants and awards:

ECCMID 2020 Attendance Grants

ESCMID is offering all-inclusive grants to at least 15 authors of accepted abstracts from Low-Middle income countries (as defined by the World Bank). The grant will cover ECCMID 2020 registration, as well as travel and accommodation costs. Applications have now closed. Successful applicants will be contacted to organise their travel to ECCMID.

ESCMID Travel Grants

ESCMID offers over 100 young scientists who submit an abstract an ECCMID Travel Grant covering full registration to the congress and a travel allowance of EUR 500. The application for ECCMID 2020 travel grants will open on the 2nd of October 2019 and end on the 28th of November 2019. Applicants will be informed not before end of January 2020 about the results of the application.

For 2020, ESCMID has awarded a total of 200 Travel grants, more than ever before. 130 of these grants are awarded to the highest-rated abstracts of those who applied, with 70 being awarded to other authors, with submitters from low-income countries being preferenced.

More information can be found on the ESCMID website.

ECCMID 2020 Programme Book Grants initiative - Paying it forward

As for ECCMID 2019 the printed Programme Book will only be available for ECCMID attendees willing to pay a € 20 donation. As usual, the ECCMID programme will be freely available at ECCMID webpage in PDF format, as well as within the ECCMID app.

The revenues from this initiative will be used to directly support attendees who would otherwise not be able to attend the congress. These grants are awarded on a balance of criteria including age, ESCMID membership status, and country of origin. The grants will be used to cover the costs of travel, registration and accommodation for the recipients. We expect to reduce the total tonnage of paper and colour printing, at the same time offering more grants for those colleagues in need. This year we only have 1500 Paper Final Programmes, we therefore recommend to add your paper programme directly when registering.

Applications for the 2020 Programme Book Grants are now closed.

If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to email the Congress Secretariat at

Grantees will be selected and notified in Mid-January (before early-bird registration deadline)
